Bio PHIL PARIS

As far back as I can remember, music has always been a part of my life. I’ve had a number of different instruments pass through my hands over the years, but it was on the drums that I discovered a real “fire”.
I started off playing local music halls and such. Later, I travelled around Europe and parts of North and Central America with various music groups.

One day I started learning this instrument; and since then I’ve never stopped. Today, it’s an inexhaustible means of communication… a language that anyone can understand, regardless of language or culture. In a studio or on stage, and even when I’m just practising on my own… there’s always something to discover, something to tell.

Any form of creativity inspires me. I’m a real “big sound” freak, and I especially like when sound takes on an “attitude” of its own. Personally, it’s the spiritual dimension of my life that feeds the fire in my playing. For me, spirituality is closely related to what I experience with my instrument. And this relationship is the most important thing I want to communicate. There is a fulfilment I find in all that, and that’s the reason why I play.
